Mr Leong, single,
78, stays alone in a 1-room rental flat in Jalan Bukit Merah. He has no family
support. Mr Leong is very frail and suffers from diabetes, hypertension and
hyperlipidaemia He was referred to Dorcas Home Care services for assistance in
November 2006. We have been helping him with meals delivery, housekeeping and
laundry services, as well as escort for his medical appointments.
In March this
year, our staff discovered bedbugs on his bed frame and mattress during their
regular housekeeping sessions. We then alerted a pest control company to come in and do a thorough
fumigation. We also helped to replace his old wardrobe
and mattress with new ones donated by a donor.
Mr Leong is able to sleep peacefully now and no longer has to
suffer nights of sleeplessness from the itchiness and scratches caused by the
bugs.
